We have chosen the YahooGroups service because it is free, easy for us to administer, and easy for our subscribers to use.  YahooGroups are widely used for such e-mail lists.  The messages have some, but minimal advertising, so they are not particularly annoying.

This will allow us to notify you of new events and news we think you might like to get occasionally.

We will never share your information or the list with others.  It is strictly controlled.

Replace text in box with your e-mail address, then click on the button to join.  You will get a confirmation e-mail from Yahoo, asking you to confirm that you really wanted to join.  That prevents others from subscribing you to the list without your permission.
