Here are some music links which might be of interest to those who attended our concerts and supported the NFC mission.   The accuracy of any information you might find through these links, such as dates of events and the like, can't be guaranteed, so you should check such matters out for yourself.

Homestead Pickin' Parlor
The nice folks at Homestead in Richfield sold tickets for us, promoted our concerts, and also carry the music of the artists we presented.  A center for bluegrass, folk, blues and other acoustic music in the Twin Cities.

Acoustic music site created by the New Folk Collective webkeeper.  Offers lists of selected artist sites, some music theory, music camp listings, some Minnesota music events, links to instrument makers and sellers, a few instructional resources, song links and more.

Acoustic music festivals, camps, and workshops all over the world.

Armadillo Sound and Design
Doug Lohman has provided terrific sound reinforcement (equipment and mixing skills to allow you to actually hear the performer) for many NFC concerts.  He's also just an all around good guy -- and a bass player.

Twin Cities Folk Information
A very good listing of selected events relating to folk dance and music, maintained by the person who designed and maintained the old New Folk Collective web site, and who is one of our long-time volunteers.

FolkRocks.Com
Minnesota acoustic music information site, with lots of good links to performers, venues, etc..  A site to check frequently.

The Podium
Another bunch of nice folks who sold tickets for us in Dinkytown near the University of Minnesota main campus, and who always supported our efforts.  A wonderful guitar and other acoustic instrument shop.

Minnesota Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Association
MBOTMA is the premier organization of its type in this region, sponsoring frequent jams, concerts and festivals, the most prominent being the annual Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Festival, held each August.

Cedar Cultural Center
Located in the old Cedar movie theater near Cedar and Riverside on the West Bank of the University of Minnesota, the Cedar is the other primary presenter of folk music in the Twin Cities.  It has the advantage of a permanent home and a paid director, unlike many other nonprofits which promote music.

Minnesota Folk Festival
Sponsors an acoustic music festival in the Twin Cities each year, along with other events.  It has recently changed locations and shifted the time of year, so watch the web site for details.

Gingko Coffehouse
Located on Snelling Avenue just south of Hamline University in St. Paul MN.  This little  coffeehouse has a nice "neighborhood" feeling to it.  A small schedule of local and touring acoustic musicians can be heard here, presented by people who care about the music.

Dulono's Pizza
This is THE place to hear Live bluegrass, old-time and acoustic music every weekend.  Located at 607 W. Lake Street, Minneapolis, just a block east of Lyndale.

Amazing Grace Bakery
Located in Duluth, this little music venue often presents major folk acts who are appearing elsewhere in the Midwest.  A good place to visit.

Granite City Folk Society
The Granite City Folk Society promotes folk music in the St. Cloud area., mainly through a Wednesday evening show at BoDiddley's Deli.

Grassroots Concerts
Located in Nisswa, Minnesota, north of Brainerd in north central Minnesota, a small group of volunteers has amassed an impressive roster of touring folk musicians whom they've presented -- too many to list, in fact.

Sing Out! The Folk Song Magazine
This the THE folk music publication, one which will keep you aware of the current state of acoustic folk music.  A quarterly journal, published since May of 1950, each issue includes is rich with complete lead sheets for 20 or more traditional and contemporary folk songs, feature articles and interviews, instrumental teach-ins, tons of recording and book reviews, the most comprehensive and up-to-date folk festival and camp listing anywhere, plus regular columns on the folk process, songwriting, storytelling and children's music. Regular columnists include Pete Seeger.

WUMB - FM Online
Boston radio station which has live streaming audio of Folk and Blues music.

WKSU Folk Music
Northern Ohio public radio station, located at Kent State University in Kent, OH, which has a 4 hour folk music show every Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.  The show is made available for about 5 weeks online.  Listen whenever you want.  Playlists are included.  This is an excellent show if you can use RealAudio, Windows Media Player or some other audio player effectively on your PC.

FolkAlley.Com
WKSU Radio has launched this 24/7 folk music streaming audio service, which is run by the same people who do the WKSU Folk Music, listed above.  You must register to use this free service, but then you can have folk music playing all day (or night) long.
