VIDEO PREMIERE: Roger Street Friedman "Poison In The Cut"

Roger Street Friedman is a white guy from Long Island. Like so many of us, he was shaken to his soul by the images of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, et al., and was moved to write "Poison in the Cut" about "the infection that festers beneath the skin." In a video for the song he draws on archival clips about slavery, segregation, and lynching, as well as statistics about systemic racism and scenes of demonstrations. "We are marching in our sorrow/We are marching in or rage," he sings, "we are marching toward tomorrow and the turning of the page." The New Folk Initiative is honored to present an exclusive premiere of this timely and still necessary video.
