VIDEO PREMIERE: Our Band "Hazel featuring David Amram

It’s well known that I’m a fan of married musical couples. Justin Poindexter and Sasha Papernik come from different worlds – Justin a guitar-playing North Carolina native and Sasha a classically-trained first generation Russian-American – but they’ve found a sweet spot as the duo Our Band. The New Folk Initiative is excited to offer an exclusive premiere of their new video, "Hazel."

Sasha had made a name for herself with a couple of solo albums, while Justin first caught my attention at NERFA almost 10 years ago as a member of The Tres Amigos (later shortened to The Amigos) with their matching Western shirts and inventive Americana music. The multi-talented, multi-genre genius David Amram became one of their champions – and officiated at their wedding.

This playful pop song, “Hazel,” from their forthcoming debut album, "Bright As You," features Amram on French horn; the video features their daughter Harper. It goes a slightly different direction, but offers welcome summery warmth during this cold winter weather.
