VIDEO PREMIERE: Bruce Sudano "Cosmic Ride"

If you check out Bruce Sudano on All Music, it lists his genres as Pop/Rock, Country, and Rap. You’d think those would be mutually exclusive, but they’re an indication of his range as a songwriter. Born in Brooklyn, he was a protégé of Tommy James in the ‘60s and moved to L.A. in the ‘70s, where he formed the band Brooklyn Dreams. He met and married Donna Summer, writing hits for her, Dolly Parton, Michael Jackson, and others in the ‘80s.

Fast forward and Bruce has been responding to the zeitgeist with a series of critically-praised EP’s since April, 2020: Spirals Vol. 1: Not a Straight Line to Be Found; Spirals Vol. 2: Time and the Space In Between; and the new Ode to a Nightingale. The lead track of the latter is “Cosmic Ride,” an upbeat rocker that’s reminiscent of Jeff Lynne or Tom Petty. It’s also got an upbeat message that’s very timely: “Find the meaning of life and may all your doors and windows be opened wide.”

Enjoy this exclusive premiere of the video, which the New Folk Initiative is proud to present.
