VIDEO PREMIERE: Christine Lavin "Ervin & Edith"

For many years Christine Lavin was close friends with the songwriter Ervin Drake ("Good Morning Heartache," "It Was a Very Good Year") and his wife Edith. Ervin and Edith were romantically linked in the late '40s, but married other people. In the early 1990's, they discovered that both of their spouses had died. They began dating, got married, and enjoyed more than 20 years of marital bliss together.

She had them on the air when she guest hosted "Sunday Breakfast" in 2002 and invited Ervin to sing an updated version of "It Was a Very Good Year" when she did an appearance at Barnes & Noble for her memoir "Cold Pizza for Breakfast" (an event I hosted). In honor of Ervin's 103rd birth anniversary on April 3 Christine composed a song celebrating their epic love story, and, as is her wont, produced a wonderful companion video. I was honored to present an exclusive premiere of the song on "Sunday Supper" and the video on my New Folk website and here on Facebook.
