Sunday Supper: 01/12/19
This week's "Sunday Supper" offers a birthday toast to two great American songwriters: Steve Earle (turning 65) and Ellis Paul (turning 55). Steve Earle provides a cameo, along with Richard Thompson, on a breathtaking new song by Diana Jones. Diana's next album, produced by David Mansfield, won't be released until March, but the "Sunday Supper" is thrilled to offer the radio debut. Meanwhile, Ellis' bestie, Vance Gilbert, has his own new release, Good Good Man, a good, good album which you'll get to sample.
As if that weren't enough, we'll have more radio exclusives - from the Brooklyn singer-songwriter Orly Bendavid and the Boston-based chanteuse Alisa Amador. Orly and her group, the Mona Dahls, will be performing on Tuesday at Rockwood Music Hall as part of On Your Radar. Blue Plate Special and Jesse Ruben fill out the On Your Radar bill, and, yes, we'll have a taste of their music, too!
Remember that Contadina commercial which asked, "How did they get those eight great tomatoes in that itty, bitty can?" That's kind of the story of "Sunday Supper" between 5-6 p.m. EST on 90.7 FM and wfuv.org, and anytime in the WFUV Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app or your favorite smart speaker.
