Sunday Supper: 10/25/20
With the marathon presidential campaign coming into the home stretch, this week's pre-election edition of the "Sunday Supper" allows a bunch of artists to express their musical opinions. It begins with a reimagining of the "Star-Spangled Banner" by Allison's Invention (a.k.a. Allison Tartalia) from the new Chicks With Dip collection, Stomping on Eggshells, and proceeds quickly to Ani DiFranco's single, "Do or Die," which avers, "If you think your vote doesn't matter, you're not paying attention."
Some other timely offerings come from Rachel Garlin, Elaine Silver, Allison Lupton & Craig Werth, Len Seligman, Roger Street Friedman and Orly Bendavid & the Mona Dahls. For balance, we'll also have some relevant older songs by Leonard Cohen, Ray LaMontagne, Frank Sinatra, and Phil Roy. And, as a special bonus, Abbie Gardner invokes Halloween in a new song with an Edgar Allan Poe twist.
There will be no fraud, only ballad stuffing from 5-6 p.m. EDT at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org or anytime in the WFUV Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app or your apolitical smart speaker.
