Sunday Supper: 10/24/21
This week's "Sunday Supper" has a two-fer by one of music's MVP's, Jason Isbell: he plays on the new John Prine tribute album, Broken Hearts and Dirty Windows, Vol. 2: and he put together the benefit album, Georgia Blue, featuring songs tied to the Peach State performed by various artists, inckuding his own 400 Unit, backed by Bela Fleck and Chris Thile.
Speaking of covers, I'll play the exotic version of "Venus in Furs" by Andrew Byrd and Lucious from I'll Be Your Mirror: A Tribute to the Velvet Underground & Nico, plus new music by Debi Smith, Dean Friedman, Jud Caswell, and Lisa Bastoni, among others, favorites by The Band and Elvis Costello, and finally, a toast to the late Paddy Moloney of The Chieftains.
Just as Paddy played music from artists all around the world, we pull it all together Sundays from 5-6 p.m. EDT at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org, or anytime in the WFUV Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app, or the worldwide smart speaker of your choice
