Sunday Supper: 07/02/23

On this long holiday weekend, "Sunday Supper" is chock full of good stuff. I'll have some American tunes for the 4th of July and offer birthday toasts to Robbie Robertson (80 on Wednesday) and Nanci Griffith (who would've turned 70 on Thursday). As an extra bonus, I'll share a portion of a session I did with Nanci back in 1998, which included studio performances with Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, Rodney Crowell, Eric Taylor, and Frank Christian.

In a patriotic mood, I'll have new releases from some great American songwriters: Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Josh Ritter, Jason Isbell, and Rod MacDonald. Also an ebullient new song by Leon Creek, the group formed by Chris Pierce, Erik Janson, and Matthew Stevens.

Only musical fireworks between 4-6 p.m. at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org or on-demand in the WFUV Archives, on the WFUV app, or the flag-draped smart speaker of your choice.
