Sunday Supper: 10/06/24
If you believe, as I do, that "music makes the world a better place," you probably know how important WFUV is to the music community, in New York and around the world. And if you support the world of contemporary folk, Americana, and singer-songwriters, you probably know how important "Sunday Supper" is to that community, from emerging artists to longtime faves. That's why I urge you to tune in this Sunday from 4:00-6:00 pm EDT at 90.7 FM or wfuv.org. It's the last day of WFUV's fall membership drive, and I've got a massive goal to achieve.
I'll toast the late, great singer-songwriter-actor-Rhodes Scholar-helicopter pilot Kris Kristofferson on his recent passing. I'll also give a shout-out to The Decemberists' Colin Meloy, who turns 50 this weekend, share new music from Amy Speace and Mindy Smith, and note upcoming performances by Sting, Tret Fure, and Two Crows for Comfort, the duo who'll be part of "On Your Radar" this Tuesday at the Bitter End.
Beyond the music, there's some great swag at your disposal when you donate at 833-907-WFUV or online at support wfuv.org. And if you're committed to watching certain baseball or football games at that time, may I suggest you turn the volume down on the TV while listening to the radio or, at the very least, make your pledge at the beginning of the show and know you've done the right thing. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support!
