The Bright Siders is a unique musical collaboration between Nashville-based Americana songwriter Kristin Andreassen, known for her work in Uncle Earl and Sometymes Why, and Brooklyn-based child psychiatrist Kari Groff, MD. Together, they create music with the purpose of helping children connect to their emotions. Ten years in the making, their carefully crafted, star-studded debut album A Mind of Your Own, releasing on January 21, 2021 via Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, arrives just when the world needs it most, and as the importance of mental health resurfaces.
2020 Kerrville New Folk winner Shanna in a Dress is your quirky best friend who refuses to wear pants. She says what everyone is thinking but no one else will say and you'll get an uncensored journey of clever humor with a hefty side of entertainment at her shows. Think Jason Mraz mixed with Ingrid Michaelson with a twist of Phoebe Buffay from “Friends” all wrapped up in a sweet voice accented by guitar, piano, and ukulele.
With brutal honesty towards himself and forgiveness for those around him, Izzy Heltai’s music walks the elusive line between confessional and relatable. On his debut album, “Father,” the 23-year-old singer/songwriter dives deep into his fascination with human relationships, and specifically the way that those relationships change and reorganize themselves over time, employing a raw roots rock sound reminiscent of Josh Ritter or Elliot Smith.
