Sunday Supper: 11/10/19
Sinematic, Robbie Robertson’s first new studio album in eight years, was inspired by his decades of creating and composing music for film, especially those of Martin Scorsese. The lead track is "I Hear They Paint Houses," the title of the book which inspired Scorsese's new release, The Irishman. Appropriately, it features a duet between Robbie and an Irishman, his old friend, Van Morrison. I'll play it on this week's "Sunday Supper" and, for good measure, couple it with a track from Van's new album, Three Chords and the Truth.
We'll also hear a couple of compelling new songs by Crys Matthews and Anthony D'Amato and have a preview of Tuesday's On Your Radar with Willa Mamet, Benjamin Dakota Rogers, and the Asaran Earth Trio.
Count on at least three chords and much musical truth on the "Sunday Supper," 5-6 p.m. EST, at 90.7 FM or wfuv.org, on demand in the Weekend Archives or via your smart speaker.
