Sunday Supper: 06/30/19

What are your plans for the 4th of July? Hopefully nothing as dramatic as the family reunion gone awry Ellis Paul described in “Five Alarm Fire on the Fourth of July” on his new album, The Storytellers Suitcase. That song will launch of American tunes on this week’s Sunday Supper to celebrate our national holiday.

In addition to some perennial favorites by Ray Charles, Bruce Springsteen, and John Mellencamp, we’ll hear recent offerings by Shemekia Copeland, Milk Carton Kids, Bobtown, Lula Wiles, Hayes Carll, and others. Not all of them are likely to be on Donald Trump’s playlist.

Hold the fireworks and savor the music Sunday from 5-6 p.m. EDT or anytime at the WFUV Weekend Archives, which are never closed for the holidays.
