Sunday Supper: 01/26/20
The 62nd annual GRAMMY Awards take place on Sunday in Los Angeles and while the "Sunday Supper" really doesn't care whether Ariana Grande, Khalid, or Lil Nas X take home hardware, there are a number of artists in the American Roots and Folk categories worth your attention, even if they get ignored on TV.
We'll have songs by longtime FUV faves Patty Griffin, Rosanne Cash, Rhiannon Giddens, Keb' Mo', and I'm With Her (the trio formed by Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O'Donovan, and Sara Watkins), plus breakout artists like Che Apalache, J.S. Ondara, and Yola (who's nominated for four awards, including Best New Artist!). As a bonus, I'll try to squeeze in a shout-out to master songwriter, David Olney, who passed last weekend, and a taste of Anais Mitchell's new project, Bonny Light Horseman.
Whether or not you've got money wagered on the results, join me for an hour of excellence, 5-6 p.m. EST at 90.7 FM or wfuv.org, as well as on demand in the WFUV Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app, or the smart speaker of your choice.
