Sunday Supper: 01/03/21

Slaid Cleaves once begged for "One Good Year," a sentiment I suspect many of us share going into 2021. This week's "Sunday Supper" has a full menu as we usher in the new year. A couple of veteran songwriters have new releases: Paul McCartney's homegrown solo album, McCartney III, and Jesse Colin Young's stripped-down Highway Troubadour, on which he revisits songs from The Youngbloods and his solo career.

I'll celebrate Epiphany with songs about The Magi by Joni Mitchell (an unreleased gem from 1967) and the cast of Hadestown. I'll toast Iris DeMent's 60th birthday on Tuesday, remember two more artists we lost at the end of the year - Tony Rice and Lois Morton - and answer a call to action from the Chicks With Dip.

Ring in the old, the new, and those resting in peace from 5-6 p.m. EST at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org or whenever your heart desires in the WFUV Weekend Archives, on the WFUV, or the calendar-conscious smart speaker of your choice.
