Sunday Supper: 03/22/20
This week's "Sunday Supper" comes in three acts. Act One is a medley of songs, by Warren Zevon, John Lennon, k.d. lang, and The Lone Bellow, to respond to the coronavirus crisis. Act Two is a toast to the titan of the musical theater, Stephen Sondheim, on his 90th birthday.
Act Three is an homage to David Olney, the songwriter's songwriter who died onstage in Florida in January and would've turned 72 on Monday. I found my 1999 interview with him which features him playing live and speaking about Emmylou Harris and Townes Van Zandt, among other topics.
The Broadway theaters are dark right now, but you can always enjoy the theater of your mind from 5-6 p.m. EDT at 90.7 FM and wfuv..org or anytime in the WFUV Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app or the smart speaker of your choice.
