Sunday Supper: 08/16/20
Long Island's Paradiddle Records has celebrated one of NYC's beloved songwriters, Willie Nile, with a double album, Willie Nile Uncovered. The artists range from national names like Graham Parker, James Maddock, and John Gorka to local heroes heroes like Quarter Horse, Gene Casey, and Emily Duff. This week's "Sunday Supper" will have examples of both, Richard Barone and Pete Mancini. And, for good measure, we'll toss in a track from Willie's new album, New York at Night.
It won't be exclusively New York-centric, though. I'll offer songs for various kinds of towns from the likes of Mark Erelli, James Taylor, Lori McKenna, the Jayhawks, and, yes, Frank Sinatra.
Whether you've become a New York refugee or you're a true believer, you'll feel right at home between 5-6 p.m. EDT at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org or anytime on demand in the Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app, or the city slicker smart speaker of your choice.
