Sunday Supper: 05/02/21
Spring has sprung and "Sunday Supper"is ready with a few songs of the season. In addition to perennials like Brewer & Shipley, Wendy Waldman, and the Rolling Stones, I'll have new selections by Jaspar Lepak, Wes Weddell and Ailisa Newhall, and Peggy Seeger. Speaking of Seegers, we'll give a nod to Pete Seeger, who would have been 102 on Monday, with a set of recent recordings in his honor by Noel Paul Stookey, the Kronos Quartet, and Reggie Harris. And Pete surely would have appreciated the new song by Aaron Nathans & Michael Ronstadt, "My Flag Too."
Finally, Allison Russell, known for her work with the Birds of Chicago and Our Native Daughters, will share a song from her forthcoming album, Outside Child, called "Nightflyer." Brandi Carlile has named it her favorite song of the past five years, and who's gonna argue with Brandi?
I've got the cure for spring fever and any musical malaise from 5-6 p.m. at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org. or anytime in the Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app, or the hypoallergenic smart speaker of your choice.
