Sunday Supper: 04/25/21

Add to the list of my favorite open-hearted musicians Michael Trotter, Jr., and Tanya Trotter-Blount, a.k.a The War and Treaty. They lend their rich, gospel-tinged voices to the cause of empathy on "Take Me In," which I'll play on this week's "Sunday Supper." (I'll also be interviewing them on Tuesday for Folk Alliance International as a member-exclusive benefit.)

New releases this week include Liz Simmons, Grace Pettis, Ellen Bukstel, Rupert Wates, Jesse Terry, and Leslie Odom, Jr.'s Oscar-nominated song, "Speak Now," while old faves include Phoebe Snow, Lyle Lovett,  Ella Fitzgerald, The Beatles, Nick Drake, and Leon Russell. Finally, to celebrate Justin Vernon's 40th birthday we'll hear his collaborations with Anais Mitchell and Taylor Swift.

"Sunday Supper" takes you in from 5-6 p.m. ET at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org or anytime in the Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app, or the empathetic smart speaker of your choice. And thanks for your support during FUV's Spring Member Drive!
