Sunday Supper: 04/11/21
Aoife O'Donovan, the Boston-born, Brooklyn-based singer who has enchanted fans of Crooked Still and I'm With Her, has just released a new single for a project of the Irish Art Center, appropriately called "Transatlantic." I'll play it on this week's "Sunday Supper," along with other new releases by Paula Cole, Liz Simmons, Friction Farm, and Neil Young, who's retrieved another gem from his archives - a 1971 performance from Stratford, CT that he claims is even better than the legendary Massey Hall concert in Toronto.
We'll have a preview of this Tuesday's "On Your Radar," featuring Nefesh Mountain, Annie Sumi, and Travis Knapp and remember an OYR alum, Tom Nelson, the leader of the Westchester band Heathcote Hill, who passed suddenly this week at the age of 65.
As Friction Farm sings, "Our days are counted, but they're not done yet." Seize the musical moment today from 5-6 p.m. EDT at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org or anytime in the WFUV Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app or the eager-to-please smart speaker of your choice.
