Sunday Supper: 04/18/21

One of folk's most open-hearted singers, Sloan Wainwright, has a beautiful tune on her forthcoming album, Red Maple Tree, called "Help Each Other Through." That sounds like a good theme for this week's "Sunday Supper," as we look for support during WFUV's Spring Member Drive.

Susan Werner, the Beatles, Richie Havens, Eric Lee, and Joan Baez second Sloan's emotion about helping out, while Art Garfunkel, Nilsson, the Lumineers, and Amanada Anne Platt & the Honeycutters celebrate New York City. Finally, Reggie Harris and Rhiannon Giddens stand strong for social justice in songs from their new albums.

Stand strong for WFUV! We get by with a little help from our friends, and it's more important than ever during this drive with a two-for-one challenge in effect. I'll be counting on my Facebook friends to come through between 5-6 p.m. EDT at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org. If that time's not possible, the show is always available in the WFUV Weekend Archives (and on the WFUV app). Call 833-907-WFUV or visit wfuv.org and mention "Sunday Supper." Thanks for your support!
