Sunday Supper: 03/06/22
March is Women's History Month, and being a guy who's in touch with his feminine side, I'm happy to focus even more than usual on some female voices on this week's "Sunday Supper." I'll toast the 60th birthday of a great writer, of both songs and prose, my friend Mary Gauthier. I'll have new releases from Aoife O'Donovan, Allison Russell, and Jaspar Lepak, plus familiar tracks by Bonnie Raitt, KT Tunstall, and Rosemary Clooney.
I'll also pay attention to some time-sensitive events: the current production of Coal Country, featuring music by Steve Earle, and the exhibition Woody Guthrie: People Are the Song, now running at the Morgan Library. Finally, a preview of Tuesday's "On Your Radar" at Rockwood Music Hall, with Side Pony, a duo of dynamic women from Nashville, and a couple of Brooklynites, Karen Dahlstrom, of Bobtown fame, and Billy Woodward, formerly in the touring company of Million Dollar Quartet.
Equal time for all kinds of music from 5-6 p.m. EST at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org or anytime in the Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app, or gender appropriate smart speaker of your choice.
