Sunday Supper: 02/05/23

With  "Sunday Supper" now extended to two hours as Bob Sherman has stepped down from "Woody's Children," I have the luxury this week of spotlighting a number of nominees for this week's Grammy Awards. I'll be finessing the likes of Beyonce, Kendrick Lamarr, and Harry Styles for folks who live in the "Sunday Supper" universe, specifically the Folk, Blues, American Roots, and Bluegrass categories.

Grammy (and FUV) fave Brandi Carlile will treat us to one of her seven nominations (out of the 25 she's received in her career), and Aoife O'Donovan and Bonnie Raitt one of their three (including Bonnie's heartfelt Song of the Year). Janis Ian, Punch Brothers, Anais Mitchell, Keb' Mo', Buddy Guy and Molly Tuttle are just a few of the hopefuls who are part of tonight's playlist.

"Sunday Supper" producer Jeremy Rainer will share a set of songs (and memories) from his years working with Bob Sherman, and we'll bookend the show with songs by Dar Williams and Susan Werner.

Hold your applause for the musical winners between 4-6 pm. EST at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org, as well as on demand in the WFUV Archives, on the WFUV app, or the award-winning smart speaker of your choice.
