Sunday Supper: 02/19/23

This week's "Sunday Supper" lifts off with a medley of Mardi Gras songs in honor of Fat Tuesday. Wednesday brings a couple of birthdays: Nina Simone's 90th and Mary Chapin Carpenter's 65th. I'll have a set celebrating Miss Simone (including a Ledisi cover, a Janis Ian tribute, and a couple of originals) and an encore of a 2016 studio session with Mary Chapin.

I can't resist doing my part to toast Burt Bacharach with a set of uncommon covers by Shelby Lynne, Audra McDonald, and Tank and the Bangas. I'll also revisit some of the musical highlights of the Folk Alliance conference in Kansas City, including Jaimee Harris, Nina De Vitry, Humbird, Terra Spencer, Heather Pierson, The Black Feathers, The Brother Brothers, and Damn Tall Buildings.

Laissez les bon temps rouler between 4-6 p.m. EST for the new two-hour "Sunday Supper " at 90.7 FM and streaming online, as well as on-demand in the WFUV Archives, on the FUV app, or the action-packed smart speaker of your choice.
