Sunday Supper: 02/26/23
This week's "Sunday Supper" celebrates the birth anniversaries of two outstanding, but very different guitarists. The youngest Beatle, George Harrison, would've turned 80 this weekend. I'll share some a bunch of his best songs, both with the Fab Four and as a solo artist (including covers by Sheryl Crow, Roger McGuinn, and Bettye LaVette). Doc Watson, the influential fingerstyle guitarist from North Carolina, would've been 100 on Thursday. Producer Jeremy Rainer will supply a tasty set in Doc's honor.
Elsewhere in the program, you'll hear new releases by Iris DeMent, Ben Bedford, Reggie Garrett, Carol Crittenden, and three Jersey Guys, Eric Harrison, Pat Guadagno, and Anthony D'Amato, plus favorites from Tom Paxton, Joni Mitchell, and David Roth, among others.
How much can I cram into the new two-hour "Sunday Supper"? Find out between 4-6 p.m. EST at 90.7 FM and streaming online, or anytime on-demand in the WFUV Archives, on the WFUV app, or fingerpicking smart speaker of your choice.
