Sunday Supper: 08/27/23

Sixty years ago this week, the March on Washington took place, as several hundred thousand people crowded the National Mall to hear civil rights leaders, including Martin Luther King, Jr., speak and artists, including Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Peter, Paul & Mary, perform.  Jeremy Rainer will offer a musical tribute this week on "Sunday Supper."

I'll also have some current music that dovetails with the anniversary, by Iris DeMent, Crys Matthews, and Raye Zaragoza, plus new releases from Laufey, Nina deVitry, Rupert Wates, Phil Henry, and, especially, Rhiannon Giddens, whose new album, You're the One, is an unqualified masterpiece.

Music will overcome from 4-6 p.m. EDT at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org, as well as on-demand in the WFUV Archives, on the WFUV app, or in the inspiring smart speaker of your choice.
