Sunday Supper: 09/17/23
Fifty years ago this week, two great musicians perished on subsequent days. On September 19, 1973, country rock pioneer Gram Parsons (The Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers) died of a drug overdose in Joshua Tree, CA. A day later, Jim Croce, one of the leading singer-songwriters of the early '70s, was killed in a plane crash in Louisiana. We'll remember them both on this wwek's "Sunday Supper."
We won't just be looking back. Major new releases by Willie Nelson, Molly Tuttle, Old Crow Medicine Show, Blind Boys of Alabama, Rhiannon Giddens, and Jason Isbell are on the menu, along with the new stuff from local talent The Scooches, Open Book, and Susan Kane.
Sweethearts of the radio are welcome from 4-6 p.m. at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org and always on-demand in the WFUV Archives, on the WFUV app, or the timeless smart speaker of your choice.
