Sunday Supper: 07/14/24

This Sunday is the 14th of July, the birth of French Independence, a.k.a. Bastille Day. As an unabashed Francophile, I'll offer some songs with a French accent by the likes of The Beatles, Fairport Convention, Jesse Winchester, and Kate & Anna McGarrigle. Fluent French speaker Madeleine Peyroux will treat us to her version of "La Vie En Rose" and a track from her strong new release, Let's Walk.

July 14th is also Woody Guthrie's 112th birth anniversary, which we'll honor with Steven Keene's new variation on "This Land Is Your Land" and a set by producer Jeremy Rainer, featuring Tom Paxton, Tom Chapin, and Woody himself. Plus new releases by Alice Wallace, Will Kimbrough, Tim Grimm, and Goodnight Moonshine.

It's liberté, égalité, and fraternité, mes amis, from 4:00-6:00 pm EDT at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org, as well as in the WFUV Archives, on the WFUV app, or the Gallic smart speaker of your choice.
