Sunday Supper: 07/19/20
Amid a heat wave across much of the country, this week's "Sunday Supper" chills out with a few mid-summer offerings, including a new one by Woodstock songwriter Michael Veitch recalling the summer of 1978 on the Lower East Side. NYC's rock troubadour, Willie Nile, has seen it all over the years, but he's at the top of his game right now. We'll hear a track from his new release, New York at Night, and Nils Lofgren channeling Willie on the forthcoming double CD, Willie Nile Uncovered.
Some other veterans on display: Lucinda Williams' critically-acclaimed Good Souls Better Angels, Neil Young's latest archival rescue, Homegrown, and John Prine's posthumous "I Remember Everything." And we trust the Austin favorite, Danny Schmidt, for a song of Compassion and Commitment, "Black and Blue."
Whether you're in the country, on the beach or an air-conditioned apartment, you'll find some musical respite between 5-6 p.m. at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org. And don't worry if you let the moment slip, you can always find the show in the WFUV Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app, or on the temperature-controlled smart speaker of your choice.
