Sunday Supper: 8/30/20

NYC's favorite expat, James Maddock, is busy, in spite of the pandemic. He's got two livestreams on Sunday (at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.) with David Immergluck (of Counting Crows) from the Bowery Electric to mark the release of his new album No Time To Cry, and he'll be appearing in the flesh at the CHIRP concert series in Ridgefield, CT on Tuesday night. I'm happy to give a little plug for that, as well as James' contribution to the terrific Willie Nile Uncovered tribute album, which is the "Sunday Supper" spotlight album for August.

Today's show also spotlights some significant birthdays: Van Morrison's 75th, Eliza Gilkyson's 70th, and Charlie Parker's 100th. (How's that for a diverse music mix?) We'll also dip into new releases by Tracy Grammer and Gillian Welch & David Rawlings and express our sadness for Justin Townes Earle's passing.

Wait, there's more, but you'll have to tune in between 5-6 p.m. EDT at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org or, if you miss it in real time, you can rely on the WFUV Weekend Archives, the WFUV app, or your ever-accommodating smart speaker.
