Sunday Supper: 02/28/21

At the age of 80, Jorma Kaukonen is going strong, spending much of his time, aside from Hot Tuna and solo projects, with his Fur Peace Ranch guitar camp in Southern Ohio. John Hurlbut is the Fur Peace manager and a fellow guitarist; now he and Jorma have collaborated on The River Flows, which sounds like them on the porch trading trading licks. I'll have a taste of it on this week's "Sunday Supper."

I'll dip into Songs from Quarantine, the album Rodney Crowell has released on Bandcamp to benefit the Music Health Alliance, featuring contributions from an all-star lineup of friends. Listen for tracks from Taj Mahal and Rosanne Cash (with John Leventhal and the Milk Carton Kids)Kris Delmhorst  has also used Bandcamp for a new single to benefit the food bank of Western Massachusetts, where she lives with her husband, Jeffrey Foucault. Coincidentally, he's just put out an album of previously unreleased recordings. Folk favorite Ellis Paul, locked down in Charlorettesville, VA, has resorted to learning songs, which he's collected on an album of covers. We'll hear a Sinatra classic, along with a track from Willie Nelson's new Sinatra tribute, That's Life.

That's life in the quarantine, which isn't slowing us down between 5-6 p.m. EST at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org, not to mention on demand in the WFUV Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app or the socially distant smart speaker of your choice.
