Sunday Supper: 02/07/21
On the eve of his 80th birthday, Tom Rush's talents as a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and raconteur are undiminished. He's been shooting a weekly "Rockport Sundays" video series on Patreon; this week we'll give him some "Sunday Supper" love on WFUV with choice tracks, including a spellbinding live version of "Urge for Going" recorded in Studio A.
The 50th anniversary of Tapestry's release prompts a mini-medley of covers by James Taylor, Roberta Flack, and Nobody's Girl (the trio formed by Bettysoo, Rebecca Loebe, and Grace Pettis). Speaking of covers, we'll get to new one by Sarah Jarosz of a U2 classic and introduce a new song by the Brother Brothers. Finally, we'll have a preview of this Tuesday's "On Your Radar" featuring Alisa Amador, Kristen Grainger & True North, and Phil Henry.
Yes, I know there's a football game of little consequence at 6:30 p.m., but there will be an equal number of highlights (if no ads) from 5-6 p.m. at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org. And if the big game does distract you, catch the show on demand in the WFUV Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app or the odds-on favorite smart speaker of your choice.
