Sunday Supper: 05/29/22

Back in 2011 Levon Helm hosted Mavis Staples at one of his Midnight Rambles at this barn in Woodstock. That joyful collaboration was captured in an album, Carry Me Home, that's just been released. I'll have a taste of it on this week's "Sunday Supper." While we process the unspeakable tragedies of Buffalo and Uvalde, Dan Weber, Leslie Mendelson and Kenny White offer a musical perspective on gun violence, and Joy Askew observes that "extinction can be silent" when it comes to climate change.

There will also be new releases from Steve Forbert, Wilco, and Amy Speace, classics from Don McLean, Eric Andersen, Joni Mitchell, Tom Petty, and James Taylor, and a shout out to Curtis Mayfield, who would've been 80 this week.

Take a load off from 5-6 p.m. EDT at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org or anytime in the WFUV Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app or the all-knowing smart speaker of your choice.
