Sunday Supper: 06/05/22
This Friday is Judy Garland's centennial, an occasion which both "Sunday Supper" and Rufus Wainwright are obliged to observe. The Garland-obsessed Wainwright has a string of shows with special guests at City Winery this week, and he's also releasing a new tribute album, Rufus Does Judy at Capitol Studios. The first single from it is out, and you'll hear it on this week's show.
The ageless Tom Paxton gets some love this week: a track from his All New album with Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, a song he co-wrote with Buffalo Rose, and his stirring collaboration with John McCutcheon, "Ukrainian Now." I'll also have new releases from Mary Gauthier, Sarah Morris, Suzie Brown, Jack's Waterfall, and Dr. John with Davell Crawford, from Take Me to the River New Orleans. Plus classics from The Pretenders, The Beatles, Paul Simon, and Robert Plant & Alison Krauss.
Meet me somewhere over the radio rainbow from 5-6 p.m. at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org or on-demand in the WFUV Weekend Archives, on the WUV app, or the entertaining smart speaker of your choice.
