Sunday Supper: 07/31/22
This week's "Sunday Supper" has two celebrations: Joni Mitchell's brave, joyful, Brandi Carlile-inspired comeback at the Newport Folk Festival and the 80th birth anniversary of Jerry Garcia (the latter including Jerry solo and with the Grateful Dead and Old & In the Way).
Equally important to honoring the elders (as Vin would say) is hearing new releases, so I'll share new ones by Amanda Shires, Rod Picott, The Brother Brothers, Anais Mitchell, Johnsmith, and the Durham County Poets, snd throw in Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong and Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit for good measure.
Look at life (and music) from both sides between 5-6 p.m. EDT at 90.7 FM and wfuv.org or on-demand in the Weekend Archives, on the WFUV app, or the soul-stirring smart speaker of your choice.
