Sunday Supper: 04/02/23
A couple days before the 55th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's death, "Sunday Supper" opens with songs by Joan Baez, Liz Queler, Nina Simone, and Iris DeMent. We'll also remember John Prine three years after we lost him to Covid and celebrate Passover with songs by Elton John, Mavis Staples, and others.
Chris Thile, Sara and Sean Watkins have brought Nickel Creek back from a nine-year hiatus with the album Celebrants. Meanwhile, Thile's fellow Punch Brothers, Chris Eldridge and Noam Pikelny, have their own side project, Mighty Poplar, with other string band stars. Also on the new release front: new albums by Greg Greenway, Eric Kilburn, Tim Grimm, and Jaimee Harris.
Never unleavened music from 4-6 p.m. EDT at 90.7 FM and streaming online or on-demand in the Archives, on the WFUV app, or the celebratory smart speaker of your choice.
